Mathematics Content for Elementary and Early Childhood Educators
Maryland's community college Associate of Arts in Teaching programs for Early Childhood Education and Elementary Education were recently updated to reflect current standards. In a collaborative effort, two-year and four-year faculty created a framework for the mathematics content courses which are part of this degree in alignment with the CAEP standards and the recommendations of Mathematics Education of Teachers II (Conference Board of the Mathematical Sciences, 2012). After completion of the outcomes and indicators document, the project expanded to provide a resource website and an online Community of Practice to support faculty as they develop pedagogical content knowledge in their students.
