Contemporary Legal Issues in Today’s Classrooms
A Model for Preservice Teachers in the Two-Year College

Although litigation against teachers is increasing at an alarming rate, there is a paucity of research and models used to address this crisis in the teacher education curriculum. This session provides an overview of the ethical and legal issues that impact teachers and presents a model used to empower preservice teachers in navigating the legal aspects of the profession.

Update on the Development of Teacher Education Baccalaureate Degrees

This joint session is a collaboration between the Community College Baccalaureate Association and the National Association of Community College Teacher Education Program to provide an update on the development of teacher education baccalaureate degrees in three institutions that have been or are in the early stages of being authorized to confer four-year teacher education degrees. Issues of planning, implementation, and results will be disclosed and discussed. The conferring of teacher education baccalaureate degrees by community colleges is an important trend.
