After a careful review of suggestions for improvement of the national conference, NACCTEP will take the following actions.
• Based upon comments such as, “Would love to have an education student panel to hear from their perspective,” the 2011 NACCTEP conference will include a student panel on Sunday, February 27. This panel will give attendees the opportunity to hear student perspectives, and future teachers the chance to participate in a professional conference experience. We hope you will join us for this panel session.
• In order to beef up the Poster Session, the Executive Board and NACCTEP have made the decision to change the format of this event. The new Networking Exhibit will emphasize a sharing of ideas from the innovative programs and projects at NACCTEP member institutions. Members are encouraged to consider presenting information about their efforts at the local level to their colleagues at the national level. Although exhibitors will still need to be paid conference registrants, there will be no additional fee to submit a Networking Exhibit. • Based upon very positive responses to the addition of a Pre-Conference Session at this year’s conference, we will offer Friday afternoon sessions again at the 2011 conference.
• Comments about the cost of the conference are again being addressed by not raising the registration rate for the 2011 conference. Unlike many organizations, which raise their rates annually, NACCTEP has not raised its conference registration fee since 2005.
In addition, NACCTEP is offering a student registration rate of $200 for the 2011 conference. Please consider bringing a student with you to experience the collaborative and informative activities of the NACCTEP Making Waves conference.
• We are pleased to announce that the 2011 conference will be held in one hotel. The Hilton San Diego Bayfront is a beautiful hotel located right on the water, and close to a myriad of attractions, dining, and shopping opportunities.
